6 men arrested for disrupting Friday Namaz in Gurugram

Haryana: Gurugram Police have arrested 6 people in connection with a video which showed them allegedly attacking people while they were offering Friday namaz in Gurugram’s Wazirababd on 20 April.

The video that surfaced was widely circulated on the social media platforms. Miscreants in the video can be seen shouting “Masjid kis liye banaya hai” (What are mosque’s made for?) and asking people to pray only in mosques. They can also be heard raising slogan “Jai Shri Ram” in the chorus.

The accused have been identified as Arun, Manish, Deepak, Monu alias Nambardar, Mohit and Ravinder. They all are residents of Wazirabad and Kanhai villages of Gurugram, says a report of ABP News.

“We had come across videos of the incident last week. However, a case has been registered on the basis of a complaint by one Hazid Shahzad Khan yesterday,” Indian Express quoted Arvind Dahiya, Station House Officer of Sector 53 police station, as saying.

They have been booked under sections Sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 296 (disturbing religious assembly) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
