Abdul Bari: Father’s abductor turned his aide in Nalgonda honour killing

HYDERABAD: In a sensational twists, the arrest of main culprit Mohammed Abdul Bari in the honour killing of Dalit youth Pranay Perumalla could become the quarry of information for the Telangana police.

It may be recalled that Pranay was stabbed to death in broad daylight in the presence of his pregnant wife, Amrutha because because Amrutha’s father could not stomach his daughter marrying a Dalit youth.

According to an investigation in the gruesome murder, Bari, a notorious rowdysheeter both in Hyderabad as well as in Nalgonda acted as a mediator between the contract killer and Amrutha’s father, Maruthi Rao, a prominent businessman to eliminate his own son-in-law.

Bari is also accused in the killing of a former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya but was later set free.

According to sources, the deal struck when Rao came into contact with Bari a few years ago when Bari allegedly abducted Rao in a land grabbing case. Later the two befriended and Rao handed out a ‘supari’ to kill Pranay to Bari, who in turn, passed on the contract to another killer, who is said to be based out of Hyderabad.

It is reported that Maruthi had promised Rs. 1 crore to Bari to kill Pranay. HAs a matter of fact, Rao allegedly paid Rs 50 lakh in advance to Bari.

“Bari is also an accused in the murder case of BJP leader Mysaiah Goud. Like Nayeem, he too had developed contacts with police and politicians. If grilled properly, without any political pressure, he will have lots to tell about nefarious land deals in Nalgonda,” a senior cop was quoted as saying to Indian Express.
