Academy Award nominated Mary Queen of Scots gets February release date for India

New Delhi: Josie Rourke’s Oscar-nominated period drama ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ got a release date for India.
The film, which received Academy Award nominations under Costume Design and Makeup & Hairstyling category, will be released in India on February 1.

The film, starring Saoirse Ronan as Mary, Queen of Scots and Margot Robbie as her cousin Queen Elizabeth I explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart and is based on the book “Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart” by Dr. John Guy.

Saoirse Ronan who portrays the role of Queen Mary revealed that she learned a lot from the Queen. “Mary has had an effect on me in a way no other character has done in a really long time,” said Ronan, adding, “I felt stronger because of her. You are always being faced with difficult decisions, but there is something really reassuring about watching a young person who was in such a powerful position go through the same things. Just because you have this God-given right to rule doesn’t mean that you don’t feel fear or you don’t feel vulnerable. What I got from Mary is the fact she took that responsibility on her shoulders and really found her own way. I found that really inspiring to play.”

Mary Queen of Scots also stars Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn, Gemma Chan, Martin Compston, Ismael Cordova, Brendan Coyle, Ian Hart, Adrian Lester, James McArdle, with David Tennant, and Guy Pearce.
