Thane: The Thane Police have named former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni as an accused in the Rs. 2,000 crore ephedrine racket that was busted last month.
Kulkarni is currently suspected to be in Kenya along with her partner, Vicky Goswami alleged kingpin of the racket, is currently out on bail in Kenya.
“The key players of the drug racket had a meeting in Kenya in January this year. It was attended by Kulkarni, Goswami, and his partner identified as Dr. Abdullah, Manoj Jain, director of Avon Lifesciences, and Jay Mukhi, who was already under arrest,” Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said as per reports published in The Hindu.
“Some others from Bollywood could also be connected to the racket. Investigations to verify this are underway,” Mr. Singh said.
A request for Red Corner Notice against Ms. Kulkarni and Mr. Goswami will soon be sent to Interpol through the CBI, revealed Thane Police.
