Advised by Prophet (PBUH) 1400 years back, the sleeping position gets medical approval

The Islamic teachings are all based on natural and sound hygienic principles.

Like we are careless about day to day activities, we are also careless at night when it comes time to sleep and a lot of people feel comfortable and therefore prefer to sleep face down.

But not many aware of the fact that sleeping on your stomach only have negative impacts on your health.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) told we (Muslims) 1400 years ago about Islamic etiquettes of sleeping and the sleeping position disliked by Allah (SWT).

On one occasion, the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) saw a man lying on the ground on his stomach. The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam)went up to him, woke him up band he nudged him with his foot. When the man woke up and looked at the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam)’s face, the Prophet SAWS said, “this is the method of lying which God hates. This is how people in hell lie.” (Reported by Ahmad, al-Fath al-Rabbaani, 14/244-245; by al-Tirmidhi).

Centuries later, medical science tells us its healthy to sleep as per Islamic way.

Fahad ur Rahman Khan said he know common people they love to sleep on their stomach. ” I remember one time when I was teaching Islamic Etiquettes in Panama and after the class was completed the people asked me why it is disliked to sleep on your stomach and to be honest I really didn’t have the answer so I told them, hey Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said Allah hates it so you better not do it.”

In 1989 I read on a British newspaper that medical scientists are studying a particular illness which is causing children their lives, small children aged 1 to 3 years that they are dying in sleep, so the scientist gathered information from the parents whose children have died and the came with shocking results that the babies are dying because of sleeping on their stomach so they print the news on the front page about not letting your babies sleep on their stomach.”
