Advocate Himal Akhtar’s success paves way for reconstitution of Waqf Board

New Delhi: Advocate Himal Akhtar won the election of Delhi Bar Council. Himal Akhtar is the only Muslim candidate who has won the election. He secured 1105 votes. The victory of Hamal Akhtar in Delhi Bar Council Election has paved way for reconstitution of Delhi Waqf Board. LG had put on hold due to a case in the High Court regarding the election of one member when even the High Court did not stay the reconstitution of the Waqf Board for that reason. Now after the result of the Bar Council Election, the application will be submitted and a letter will be sent to LG.

Mr Akhtar told about Waqf Board that the issue of the post of Bar council has been solved and the court had stayed it on this basis only, LG had put it on hold because of that.

Answering the question, what step would you take for reconstitution of Waqf Board? Advocate Himal Akhtar said we will file a petition in High Court apprising it the result of Bar Council. Besides LG will be contacted and he expressed hope that process of reconstitution of Waqf Board will begin soon.
