Afghanistan: Taliban’s bid to conduct coordinated attack foiled

Kabul: The Special Forces of the Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), have foiled Taliban’s bid to carry out a coordinated attack in Afghanistan’s western Farah province.

The Special Forces of the directorate targeted a large compound of the Taliban in Farah Rod district which the terror outfit wanted to put to use for the attack, reported Afghan’s news agency Khaama Press, citing, NDS, as saying, in a statement.

According to the report, senior commanders, leading a group of 100 insurgents, were using the compound to mobilize forces for the attack.

At least fifteen Taliban insurgents were killed during the operation including a commander of the group identified as Lawang.

According to the statement issued by NDS, the Special Forces also confiscated six tons of explosives along with several weapons and ammunition during the operation.
