Agree with brother Naseer: Lt Gen (Retd) Zameeruddin Shah

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant General Zameer Uddin Shah and former vice chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, agrees with the veteran actor and younger brother Naseeruddin Shah’s views on the rising mob violence in the country.

In an exclusive interview with News18.com, the former deputy chief of the army staff said the madness of polarisation has to stop and the perpetrators of the crime have to be punished or arrested.

When asked about the fallout of the politics of polarisation, he said:

“There has been communalisation of police all over the country. This is something which is more dangerous that we have to deal with. I do hope other services don’t suffer the same, but the condition in the police force is hopeless. The concern is that we don’t live in the same conditions in which we lived just a few years ago. Today, it is totally polarised. And this is harmful to the rest of the country.”

He said that the minorities which account for 14% of the population is being subject to atrocities and are more vulnerable in cow politics.

All these crimes are being filmed and shared on social media. It is providing amusement to people. Social media has become a menace and is being used to spread poison. We are concerned with the politics of polarisation and the abuse of social media to spread the venom. You see, it takes three generations for people to forget any atrocity.

The award-winning actor has courted controversy on Thursday with his views about his concerns regarding his children and the current socio-political state of the country.

Referring to the recent violence in Bulandshahr, the veteran actor in a two-minute-ten-second video interview with Karwan-e-Mohabbat India said, “I feel worried about my children. They do not have a religion.”
