Air India flight given warm welcome at Israel airport

Tel Aviv: The Air India flight which landed at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport by using Saudi airspace was given a warm welcome at the airport. The diplomatic ties between India and Israel are termed historical which was made possible due to the permission given by Saudi Arabia to use its airspace. The maiden flight of Air India for Tel Aviv departed from Indira Gandhi Airport at 6 pm and landed at Ben Gurion airport passing through Saudi airspace. It was welcomed by coloured water fountains.

Saudi Arabia’s decision to permit Air India to use its airspace has enabled the airline to take a shorter route. Many Arab and Islamic nations do not recognise Israel and, therefore, disallow airlines from using their airspace to that country.
