Air India to begin inquiry into crew supervisor slapping on-board flight attendant

Mumbai: An internal investigation was set up by Air India to probe the recent incident where an in-flight supervisor reportedly slapped the flight attendant on board for serving non-vegetarian food to a vegetarian passenger traveling in business class on the New Delhi-Frankfurt flight on 17 March.

The airline in-flight cabin crew supervisor reportedly slapped the in-flight attendant for serving non-veg food to vegetarian passenger said Airline officials.

An internal probe as to what made the supervisor slap her crew member has begun said Air India spokesperson.

“The passenger did point out the mistake to the cabin supervisor but did not file a complaint,” airline sources said.

According to the Air Line officials, “The crew member apologized to the passenger and a replacement meal was also served to him. It was much later that the in-flight supervisor took up the issue again with the flight attendant again and ended slapping her for the mistake.”

However, on returning to Delhi, the flight attendant filed a complaint against the supervisor with Air India’s in-flight service department.

“We have received a complaint from the cabin crew of the flight AI 121 and an internal inquiry has been set up to investigate the allegations,” an Air India spokesperson said, Hindu reports.
