Ajmer blast accused invited as a chief guest at Gujarat varsity

Ahmedabad: Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University has kicked a row by inviting a top Rashtriya (RSS) leader also an accused in the Ajmer blast case, as the chief guest for the institution’s annual convocation ceremony.

RSS leader Indresh Kumar is one of the accused named in a CBI chargesheet on the blast at an Ajmer dargah in 2007, which killed three people and injured more than a dozen.

Intrestingly the University mentions the Ajmer blast accused as a ‘social reformer and defence expert’.

As the chief guest, the Ajmer blast accused will not only hand over gold medals to meritorious students, but also deliver a speech in the presence of governor OP Kohli on Monday.

According to TOI, the university has invited the top RSS leader as the chief guest for the institution’s annual convocation ceremony; the move has stoked a row.

“The decision on invitation to Indresh Kumar was taken by vice-chancellor RL Godra,” the varsity officials said.
