Akbaruddin Owaisi takes oath as Chandryangutta MLA

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took oath as MLA of Chandrayangutta for the fifth term on Saturday. Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy administered the oath to Akbaruddin in the former’s chamber.

It may be mentioned that after the recent Assembly elections in Telangana, Akbaruddin Owaisi was admitted to Owaisi hospital due to severe stomach pain.

Mr Owasi could not attend the swearing-in ceremony on 17 January reportedly due to his ill health. Jafar Hussain, TRS member Madhavaram Krishna Rao, TD member Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and BJP member Raja Singh were among the other lawmakers who did not attend the ceremony.

In the recently concluded state assembly elections, the ruling TRS had won 88 of the 119 seats. The Congress, which was in an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India and the Telangana Jana Samithi bagged 19 seats, while the AIMIM managed to get 7 seats and the TDP only won two out of the 13 constituencies it contested.
