Akhilesh dubs BJP as ‘biggest casteist party’

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday termed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the biggest casteist party saying that it has spread venom in the name of religion and caste.

“BJP is the biggest casteist party in India. It has spread venom in the name of religion and caste. They have taken the nation on the wrong path,” he said in Mumbai.

Yadav remarks come in the wake of recent Bhima-Koregaon violence and communal clash in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district.

He further cornered Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government over the agrarian issue and questioned as to how much farmers’ loans have been waived off as of now.

“Maharashtra is one of the most economically developed states but the highest number of suicides was recorded in this state. They say they will waive off farm loans. How many farmers have been able to get their loans waived off in Maharashtra?” he asked.

The SP supremo further vented his ire against the BJP over the demonetisation drive and said, “They say demonetisation will curb black money and corruption. All it did was changed the colour of notes.”

Yadav also raked up the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering issue and called for voting through ballot papers.

“Several countries of the world conduct elections via ballot papers. When we put a stamp on a ballot paper we put a stamp on the performance of the government. When we cast the vote through EVM, it is a machine which votes for us,” he added.(ANI)
