UP: Akhilesh roped in to bring Congress into opposition alliance

Lucknow: To strengthen opposition alliance against Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh, SP, BSP and Lok Dal have geared up to bring Congress into the alliance. National President Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav has been roped in to shoulder the responsibility.

It must be noted that SP, BSP and RLD were included in the alliance against BJP during Uttar Pradesh by-elections and Congress was kept away from it. However according to sources as the proposed Lok Sabha elections of 2019 are coming near, efforts are on to make the 2019 Lok Sabha elections a fight between the BJP on one side and the entire opposition on the other. It is said that even BSP chief Mayawati agrees that Congress should become part of the opposition alliance.
