Akshay Kumar deletes 6-year-old tweet that criticised fuel price rise

Mumbai: Bollywood actors who remain silent lately on major issues in the country were not always this cautious about the statements they made during previous governments. From being labelled as ‘anti-national’ or asked to ‘go to Pakistan’, Bollywood stars have gained much for merely mentioning critical matters.

And Akshay Kumar is no different. When petrol price hiked in 2012, he had tweeted some posts on his Twitter account criticising the move.

But, interestingly he has now deleted another tweet that he posted six years ago as the history is repeating itself and the petrol price is touching the all-time high during Narendra Modi’s regime. His deleted tweet read, “Guys, I think it’s time to clean up your bicycles and hit the road! As per sources, expecting another petrol price hike.” A Twitter user posted the picture of his deleted tweet and wrote, “Wonder why .@akshaykumar deleted this tweet. Maybe he doesn’t have the STREANH to face public with increasing #petrolpricehike ?”

However, Akshay wasn’t the only to at least criticise the petrol price hike. Celebrities such as Anupam Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Vivek Agnihotri and others, had also posted something or the other related to the fuel price rise under the UPA government.

Surprisingly, no prominent figure now dares to even raise a tweet against the soaring fuel price, that has crossed Rs 84/L in major cities.
