All set for polling today, Rs 135 cr cash, liquor seized: : CEO

Hyderabad: The Election Commission today appealed to the voters of Telangana to cast their votes on December 7 polling as elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth and fair polls.

Speaking to the media at Secretariat here this evening, CEO Rajat Kumar said the 13 sensitive segments will see the end of the voting by 4 pm while others will end by 5 pm. He held a review meeting with concerned officials and instructed to ensure smooth and peaceful polling across the119 segments. The EC took effective steps to stop poll violations by the political parties and seized Rs 135 crore cash, liquor and other materials. The poll staff will reach their respective segments, including Hyderabad by night and will start the polling process at 7 am on Friday.
Those who reach the polling booths by 5 pm will be allowed to vote and not later, he clarified.

All facilities were provided at the polling stations and the police and other officials will pave the way for smooth polls. He said C-VIGIL application can be used to lodge complaints and there was good response and received 8,000 complaints and addressed most of them. New technology and gadgets are being used for smooth and fair polls, he added.
