All who allegedly raped, burnt woman alive in Temple premises are her kin

BAREILLY: All the accused people who allegedly gangraped and later burnt alive a woman + (35) in the yagyashala of a temple near her house in UP’s Sambhal district on Saturday, were her relatives.

The woman was burnt alive by unidentified miscreants in Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, news agency ANI reported. The woman was allegedly trying to resist a gangrape attempt, following which she was set on fire. The police has asked the bereaved family to file an FIR and assured that action would be taken in the case. The charred body of the victim has been sent for postmortem.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the five accused, Mahaveer, is a distant cousin of the victim’s husband, while the other four are also relatives. We are conducting raids at all their relatives’ houses but the accused are yet to be nabbed,” said inspector and investigating officer Varun Kumar, SHO of Rajpura police station.

“We have asked the family to file an FIR after which we’ll take action. Accused will be nabbed soon. Rest of the action will be taken after post-mortem report comes,” police told ANI
