Alleged exploitation of girl student in MANUU, memorandum presented to Chancellor

Hyderabad: A girl student of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) presented a memorandum to Chancellor, Mr. Feroz Bakht Ahmed requesting him to take stern action against the authorities of the university and to do justice to her.

In her petition, the student alleged that without assigning any reasons, she was debarred from attending the classes in the Dept. of Journalism. She was suspended for a period of one year. She further said that she has been struggling for getting justice and had approached Human Rights Commission also but it was of no avail.

The girl student told that she belongs to a very poor family. Her father is a fruit merchant. Despite financial difficulties, she is desirous of getting higher education but MANUU authorities deprived her of this privilege.

She also alleged that an attempt of sexual harassment was made in the department. When she protested, she was threatened of dire consequences. She also registered a complaint at police station Raidurg but no action has been taken so far. She had also contacted the medical officer of the university for which Dept. of Journalism issued suspension orders.
