Alok Nath sues Vinta Nanda who accused him of raping her 19 years ago, demands Rs 1

Actor Alok Nath who is accused of a rape by Vinta Nanda in the #MeToo movement has sued for defamation, asking for a written apology and Re 1 as compensation. The actor has denied the charges of sexual misconduct, he is known for his roles as elder in films.

Vinta Nanda had accused Alok Nath of rape and narrated her horrifying ordeal in a Facebook post amidst the ongoing #MeToo movement. She was the writer and producer of tele serial ‘Tara’ in the 90s, in which Nath played a lead role.

Vinta Nanda had accused him of raping her 19 years ago. After she came out with her allegation, even Sandhya Mridul and Deepika Amin accused him of harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

Earlier, Alok and his wife Ashu Alok Nath had filed a defamation case in Andheri court against accuser Vinta Nanda, seeking directions for Amboli police to take cognisance of their complaint filed on October 12. It also sought an investigation into the matter under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) section 155 and sections 499, 500, 34 and 114 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
