Amarnath Yatra suspended from Baltal route

New Delhi: The Amarnath Yatra was suspended from the Baltal route on Friday owing to the monsoon weather said a Police official.

The Amarnath yatra to the cave shrine in south Kashmir was suspended due to the heavy rainfall in the valley which has caused multiple landslides en route to the Yatra, PTI reported.

Heavy rainfall in the valley for the past few days caused multiple landslides en route the yatra. Landslides damaged the Kali Mata Track at multiple places, which has forced suspension of the yatra from Baltal route.

“Restoration work is going on but a slight drizzle is hampering restoration work,” the official said, adding that these landslides have damaged the Kali Mara track at various places.

According to an official of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the yatra was going on through the Pahalgam route.
