Amid Gulf crisis, Saudi Arabia shuts down its only border gate with Qatar

Riyadh: Amid Gulf crisis, Saudi Arabia closed down its only border gate with Qatar which was opened in August this year.

According to the report published in Daily Sabah, Saudi Arabia shut down Salwa Border Gate with Qatar.

Customs Directorate of Saudi Arabia issued a circular for shutting down the border gate.

It may be mentioned that after the Gulf Crisis, the gate was closed down. It was reopened in August this year on humanitarian grounds.

It may be noted that this is the worst crisis in Gulf region after the establishment of GCC in 1981. On June 5, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain started suspending ties with Qatar.

Efforts to resolve the crisis also failed this week.
