AMU Kashmiri students threaten to surrender their degrees

Aligarh: A delegation led by Vice President Aligarh Muslim University Sajjad Rathar met AMU registrar. Vice President threatened that they will surrender their degrees to the university and return to their homes. University and district administration will be responsible for this, he said.

It is alleged that some students gathered at a place after the killing of Mannan Wani by Kashmir police in an encounter. On receipt of the information, University administration suspended two students and some students were issued show cause notice.

The students alleged that AMU Proctor and non-Kashmiri students attacked the peaceful Kashmiri students. They said sedition charges levied against Kashmiri students are baseless. If the suspension and show cause notice are not revoked the Kashmiri students will surrender their degree and will return home.

Meanwhile, AMU registrar Abdul Hamed said students have been pacified saying them that no one will be harassed unnecessarily. The students who are not wrong need not worry. He said the idea of leaving the campus is of few students not all.
