Andhra Police seize 30 kg gold

West Godavari: A team of Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday recovered 30 kilograms of gold in a raid at Narayanapuram toll plaza in West Godavari district.

The raid was conducted by the Ganapavaram Circle Inspector (CI) Ramkumar along with other police personnel and revenue officials in the run-up to ensuing assembly polls in the state.

According to officials, flying squad and static surveillance teams were formed to carry out search operations in the state.

The team was involved in searching vehicles at Narayanapuram toll plaza when the police found 300 golden biscuits, each of 100 gram, in an Audi car going towards Eluru.

As no proper documents were obtained from the spot, the police seized the gold, said the police.

Superintendent of Police (SP) M Ravikumar said that the gold biscuits will be handed over to the Income Tax Department officials for further action.
