Kupwara : A gun-fight raged between militants and a joint team of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) is underway at Waterkhani forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon.
Acting on specific information about the presence of some militants at forest area of Cherwari in Waterkhani near Drugmulla, the army’s 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the SOG cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Soon after the forces cordoned off the forest area, the militants opened fire at them ensuing a gun battle between them.
As per latest reports, the cordon-and-search operation was going on. (ANI)
