Another SI in city trapped by ACB sleuths

Hyderabad: A sub-inspector of the Mirchowk police station was trapped by the Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths here today while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person.

According to the information, the SI working at the Mirchowk police station allegedly demanded Rs.2 lakh as bribe from the complainant against whom a case of cheating was registered following a “court referred complaint”. The police registered a case and took up investigation.

The SI Sarangapani allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh and received a first installment of Rs 50,000 through constable Kiran when the ACB officials trapped the constable and the SI when they were trying to settle a 2017 cheating cases. A few weeks ago, the ACB officials had trapped another SI of the Asifnagar police station while accepting a bribe from a pan masala dealer.
