Andhra Pradesh Congress Affairs in-charge Omen Chandy has said they were inviting former Congress leaders, who were in various political parties right now, to rejoin Congress party. Chandy went to former chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy’s residence here on Sunday and conferred with the latter for half-an-hour.

Speaking to the media later, Omen Chandy said Kiran Kumar Reddy told him that he would decide whether to rejoin Congress party or not. Chandi said, “We are inviting the former leaders to come back to the Congress and as part of it, we have invited Kiran Kumar to rejoin Congress party”. He lamented that the party’s condition was not good in Andhra Pradesh and there was a dire need to strengthen the party. Kiran was a Congress family member, he added.

Earlier, Chandy met with all the available Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders and discussed about Kiran issue and steps will be taken to rope in all former Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh State to strengthen the party.

It may be mentioned here that the party senior leaders Pallam Raju and T Subbirami Reddy invited Kiran to join Congress party a week ago. In this context, Chandy held discussions with Kiran. It is learnt that Kiran’s rejoining was finalized and he may join the party on July 3 or 4 in the presence of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi in Delhi
