AP govt appoints IGP-rank officer as Addl CP Vijayawada

As part of the exercise to strengthen the police set up in state capital region, Andhra Pradesh government today posted Inspector General of Police-rank officer as Additional Commissioner of Vijayawada.

The Vijayawada Police Commissionerate is now headed by an Additional Director General of Police-rank officer. Its jurisdiction will soon be expanded to cover the new capital region Amaravati, an order issued by General Administration Department Secretary Shashi Bhushan Kumar said.

The state government gave postings to eight IPS officers in all today, including to 1994 batch officer N Sreedhar Rao, who came to AP on deputation from Sikkim.

Sreedhar Rao has been posted as IGP (Law and Order) while Mahesh Chandra Laddha (1998) has been posted as Additional CP, Vijayawada, the order said.

DIG-rank officers E Damodar and K Venkateswara Rao have been posted to Legal and Training wings respectively.

Ch Shyam Prasada Rao has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (administration), Vishal Gunni as SP, Nellore, Gaja Rao Bhupal as SP, Crime Investigation Department, Ch Vijaya Rao as AP Special Police (5th battalion) Commandant and Rahul Dev Sharma as SP, CID.

Another SP rank officer S Ranga Reddy has been asked to report in the DGP’s office, it said.
