Arsenal’s title hopes in tatters post Swansea drubbing

London: Arsenal’s hopes of winning a Premier League title in 12 years suffered a heavy blow after being beaten by a weakened Swansea City side 2-1at Emirates Stadium.

Joel Campbell put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute when he half-volleyed in Alexis Sanchez’s cross before winger Wayne Routledge restored parity for Swansea, which their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions, the Mirror reported.

Arsenal tried hard to reclaim the lead as Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez struck the bar before Swansea captain Ashley Williams scored the decisive goal on 74 minutes.

With the win, Swansea now have a six-point cushion to the relegation zone while Arsenal’s gap with league leaders Leicester City increased to six points at the top of the table. (ANI)
