Aruna accuses KCR of grabbing power by poll irregularities

Hyderabad: Former minister and senior Congress leader DK Aruna on Monday alleged that the TRS clinched power by adopting llegal means and bulldozing all rules of the Election Commission. She said the TRS leaders were now striving to win majority of Lok Sabha seats in the ensuring elections by making false promises to the people of the State. Alleging that the TRS was secretly supporting the BJP-led Union government, Aruna hoped that people in the State would reject the TRS nominees in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Aruna exhorted the people to vote for Congress candidates as that party conceded separate Telangana State, which once perceived as impossible by many leaders in the State. She said fulfillment of the promises made by the Centre at the time of bifurcation of the State could become a reality only when the Congress formed government at the Centre. Raising the controversial issue of EVM tampering, Aruna wondered as to why the Election Commission was not inclined to hold elections with ballot papers when so many countries in the world were following the same.

Former actress-turned Congress leader Vijayasanti thanked party chief Rahul Gandhi for appointing her as chairperson of TPCC campaign committee in the State. She said she would not only discharge her duties with dedication and commitment, but would also work hard to ensure victory of the party in the Lok Sabha elections.

KCR to back Modi after LS polls: Vijayasanti
Targeting the ruling party on the occasion, Vijayasanti alleged that the recent victory of the TRS was not transparent and was marred with several irregularities and violations of rules of the Election Commission. She also alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to extend support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi government after the parliamentary elections.

Pointing out that KCR had held discussions on formation of a Federal Front with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Vijayasanti questioned as to why the former did not extend support to Mamata after the face-off between the CBI and the Kolkata police. She said the Congress would fight the upcoming elections with full force and energy and added that the people, who have once trusted the Chief Minister, would not trust him once again.
