Ashok Vihar shooting: Accused held

New Delhi: The man who shot at a woman on Saturday night in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area was nabbed on Sunday morning.

As per the police, the accused, Harish, was stalking the victim for a long time. The girl had also filed a complaint about the matter to authorities at her workplace in Gurugram.

According to the eyewitness, advocate Karmesh Sharma, the man shot the woman and immediately fled the spot.

Speaking to media, Sharma said that he came to know about the incident after checking the footage of the CCTV installed outside his office. The eyewitness also said efforts were made to chase the accused after seeing the victim wailing in pain.

“While working, we heard a firecracker-like sound in the area. On checking the CCTV of my office, we noticed a man running away. We immediately came out and saw dogs barking incessantly, after which we heard a woman wailing in pain. On reaching the house, we saw a magazine, blood on the floor and an old lady. We even tried to chase the man but couldn’t nab him. He had been waiting outside the house for about 10 minutes,” said Sharma.

The injured girl was immediately rushed to a hospital in the vicinity.
