Jakarta: Indian gymnastic player Dipa Karmakar on Friday ended her campaign in the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games as she finished fifth in the finals of Women’s Balance Beam event.

The 25-year-old, who had withdrawn from the Women’s Artistic Team event due to a knee injury, secured a total of 12.500 points to knock herself out of the competition.

While Chinese Gymnast Yile Chen clinched a gold medal with a score of 14.600 points, Su Jong Kim of North Korea bags silver with a total of 13.400 points.
Another Chinese player in the event, Jin Zhang, finished third on the podium after accumulating 13.325 points.

In badminton, Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy edged past Mei Kuan Chow and Meng Yean Lee of Malaysia 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 to advance in the quarter-final of the Women’s Doubles event.

India’s total medal tally at the prestigious tournament stands at 24 with six gold, five silver and thirteen bronze.
