Nagaon: In a yet another incident of moral policing in Assam, a couple was beaten up and the woman’s head was shaved for having an alleged “illicit” affair. The incident occurred in Nagaon district on Saturday night.
The seriously injured couple were rushed to a hospital in Kathiatoli and later admitted to the Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital in Nagaon.
According to police sources, the woman’s head was shaved by other women of the village. Their clothes were torn and they were tortured through the night. Police came to know about the incident only during early hours in the morning.
The man and the woman both were married and were cheating on their spouses, hence the locals resorted to moral policing.
