Assam: V Class minor child raped, burnt to death

Guwahati: A fifth class Assamese girl was brutally raped and set on fire by five perpetrators on Friday.

The incident is reported from Assam’s Nagaon district where the culprits which included two minors aged 10 and 11 set the minor girl child on fire after raping her. The girl’s parents were at work when the crime took place.

According to the initial reports, the girl was rushed to the Nagaon Civil Hospital with 90 percent burn injuries.

The Police have nabbed two minor accused while the other three accused are on the run

The Police said, “The minors have admitted to the crime. During questioning, they said the girl was alone at home after returning from school when the youth Zakir Hussain raped her. The juveniles then joined in and set them later set her on fire.”

According to the reports, the crime took place at Dhaniyabheti in Lalung Gaon of Nagaon where the locality is not safe for women. Sources said a possible enmity with a person named Zakir could be the reason behind the crime.

But villagers say security of women in the locality is a huge concern.

The issue was also raised in Assam Assembly recently by area MLA representing Batadroba constituency under which the village Dhaniyabheti falls says reports.

A similar incident of gang rape was reported from Nagaon on March 17 where the Police apprehended eight people involved in an alleged gang rape of a 35-year-old married woman, DC reports
