New Delhi: Indian Auqaf Foundation was established in IICC. In a programme held in this connection, the participants rued that the situation of Waqf land in India is getting worse to worst. They lamented that everyone blames the government but no one comes forward to protect the Waqf land though it is the responsibility of every Muslim to protect Waqf properties.
The prominent personalities who took part in a panel discussion held in IICC told that there are Waqf properties worth lakhs and crores of rupees. If they are properly utilised, the community will no more remain backward and it will not have to beg from the government. We have so many properties even the government doesn’t have that much, said the participants.
Former Minority affairs minister Dr K Rahman Khan, Prof Akhtarul Wasey, chairman India Islamic Centre Sirajuddin Qureshi Dr Nisar Ahmed, Naveed Hamed, CA Kamal Farooqui, imam and Khateeb of parliament Jama masjid Muhibbullah Nadwi, Muslim League leader Khurram Anees Omer, social worker Hafez Mohammed Javeed, Prof Javeed Ahmed and other participated in the discussion.
Throwing light on the objectives of the Indian Auqaf Foundation, Mr Rahman said that it aims at creating awareness regarding Auqaf.
