Auto drivers leader threaten fast from Feb. 14

Hyderabad: Telangana Auto Drivers Unions JAC today announced that its leader Mohd Amanullah Khan would go on fast-unto-death from February 14 if the State government failed to concede their reasonable demands by that date.

It may be mentioned here that the existing auto fares i.e. Rs.20 minimum and Rs 11 per Kilometer were fixed by then government on February 14 in 2014. Alleging partiality and double standards by Traffic police towards the auto drivers, the Union demanded that the government settle their long pending issues by February 14. Their other demands include immediate suspension of Addl. Commissioner of traffic police for forcing separate police registration, returning the amount collected so far from the auto drivers, stoppage of separate police registration project and fixation of auto fares on par with the neighbouring States.
