Avoid pendency of files: Srihari tells IAS officials

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today exhorted IAS officials to avoid delay in clearing the files and speed up the process of good governance at people’s doorsteps. He expressed concern over the people losing their faith on three key pillars of the Constitution such as Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. All the three pillars are responsible when people find fault with one at least and we can overcome the problem by checking lapses and plugging loopholes, he observed.

The Deputy Chief Minister was distributing Telangana Excellence Awards to IAS officials at a program at MCR HRD here on Monday. IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Chief Secretary SK Joshi, MCR HRD Director-General, BP Acharya and other IAS officials were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Srihari said the IAS officials should make use of their decision-making power and avoid keeping files pending for months. IThe IAS officials cannot have prior opinion or show any sort of partisan attitude on a particular file that come for clearance. The decision should be taken to ensure that the people trust them and the government, he said.

Stating that he did not own a single acre of land and could not get a cheque towards crop investment under Rythu Bandhu scheme, Srihari said he will not keep any file pending for more than 24 hours. Being empowered to clear the files with some inputs, the officials must endorse the files for clearance by a minister concerned or Chief Minister for taking a final decision, he said, adding that the work should be done immediately and speed up system of delivery with complete involvement.

The government was coming up with unique schemes under visionary Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership like land cleansing survey in a single day, distribution of cheques towards crop investment and pattadar passbooks, formation of 31 districts, giving nutritious food to students of KGBV, Residential schools, sanitary napkins and others, he said. “The youngest State of Telangana occupies first place in several spheres. I am proud that we are able to provide healthy food to the students of these institutions and reduce anaemia and other problems”, he added. (NSS)
