Avril Lavigne is back with ‘Head Above Water’

Washington: The wait ends here, as Canadian-French singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne’s latest album “Head Above Water” is all set to hit the pop music world.

Talking about her album, Lavigne said, “This album tells my story”. This will be her first single in three years and is dedicated to her struggles with Lyme disease over the last couple of years.

In a blog posted on her official website, the singer explained what inspired her to come up with the album. “This is me and my fight. One night, I thought I was dying, and I had accepted that I was going to die. My mom laid with me in bed and held me. I felt like I was drowning. Under my breath, I prayed ‘God, please help to keep my head above the water. In that moment, the songwriting of this album began.

It was like I tapped into something. It was a very spiritual experience. Lyrics flooded through me from that point on,” the blog read.

Lavigne also shared the cover of her much-awaited album on Twitter. The cover, featuring Lavigne in a white sleeveless dress with a plunging neckline, is a literal interpretation of the track’s title. The ‘how you remind me’ singer can be seen posing in a pool with her ‘Head above water’.

Avril Lavigne entered the music world at the age of 16 and there was no looking back after that. Her genres include Pop punk, pop rock, alternative rock, and post-grunge. She had bagged nominations in many prestigious awards including Grammy, MTV Video Music Award and MTV TRL Award.
