Ayesha Meera case: fresh probe begins

Hyderabad: Fresh probe begins into the sensational Ayesha Meera (19) murder case on Tuesday by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by the government.

It must be recalled that Ayesha Meera, the B. Pharmacy student, a native of Guntur district, was suspected to have been sexually assaulted and brutally murdered by some miscreants in Sri Durga Ladies Hostel at Ibrahimpatnam in December 2007.

Several suspects were picked up and questioned in this connection. A local court awarded life imprisonment to Pidatala Satyam Babu, who was later acquitted by the High Court a few months ago.

The Court also directed the police to book the real culprits, following which the State government constituted the SIT headed by Ch. Srikanth, DIG, Sri Lakshmi and Hymavathi, Dy. SPs, and Sahera Begum, CI. It is hoped that the investigations will be totally unbiased and the real culprits will be found.
