Azhar Khan lynched in Rajasthan; this time for fishing near temple

Jaipur: A group of villagers badly assaulted a man for fishing near a temple in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district. The man succumbed to his injuries in hospital after a week. A case of murder has been registered against unidentified people. However, no arrests have been made so far.

According to sources on September 17, 22-year-old, Azhar Khan was beaten in Chittorgarh’s Kheri village allegedly for fishing and dirtying area near a temple on the banks of Ruparel River. He succumbed to injuries on September 22 in a hospital in Udaipur.

An FIR has been registered by his uncle Riyaz Khan. Police told that Azhar was accompanied by Shahnawaz Khan (23), Naushad Khan (47) and Anwar Khan (41) when he had gone to Ruparel River for fishing. All the four were chased by some men guarding their fields. While three managed to escape, Azhar was caught and beaten with ‘lathis’ (bamboo staves).

Tension prevailed in Bicchor village after Azhar’s body was handed over to his family following an autopsy.
