Hyderabad: Former captain of Indian Cricket Team, Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin expressed his intention to contest parliamentary election from Secunderabad Constituency. Is it a common strategy of BJP and MIM?
It may be mentioned that earlier, Azharuddin was elected from Moradabad Parliamentary Constituency of UP on Congress Ticket and now he wants to start his political innings of 2019 General Elections from his native State, Telangana.
Earlier, Senior party leader of Congress, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir has suggested the name of Azharuddin in public meeting held at Charminar. Later, Mr. Azharuddin had clarified that he has no intention to contest Lok Sabha seat from Hyderabad Constituency.
The announcement of Azharuddin has created panic in the political portals of Hyderabad especially in MIM.
Political observers opine that if a Muslim candidate is floated from Secunderabad Constituency, BJP will get benefit. There is a record that whenever, a Muslim candidate contested from Secunderabad, the benefit went to BJP. The success of Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya in Secunderabad Lok Sabha MP Election is attributed to the division of Muslim votes.
The political analysts are confused as to who suggested Mr. Azharuddin’s name for parliamentary seat in Secunderabad.
If Congress is serious about getting a Muslim candidate elected for Lok Sabha, it should float a Muslim candidate from Warangal, Karimnagar or Nizamabad where the minority votes are a deciding factor.
Meanwhile, former Congress MP, Mr. Anjan Kumar Yadav challenged Azharuddin to get elected from Secunderabad.
