Babar Azam equals the record with Zaheer Abbas, reaches another milestone

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam became the second-fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs in ODI cricket becoming only the second-quickest after South Africa’s Hashim Amla and equaling to former Pakistan batsman Zaheer Abbas

He achieved it in the 45th innings and has played 47 ODIs so far. With 33 runs scored by him, the Pakistani batsman is now the joint-second-fastest-batsman to reach the milestone of 2000 ODI runs. Scoring it in his 45th innings in the format, he is tied along with former Pakistani batsman Zaheer Abbas and former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen.

Only South Africa’s opener Hashim Amla stands ahead on the list, having reached the mark in 40 ODI innings. Babar managed to overhaul India’s Shikhar Dhawan (48 innings) and skipper Virat Kohli (53 innings) en route to the milestone.
