Several parts of the Old City remained closed in protest of 25th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya on Wednesday.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed for a large part of the day in the commercial hubs of Pathergatti and Laad Bazaar. Towards the west of the Old City, shops were closed in areas such as Hussaini Alam, Chowk and Khilwat and Shalibanda too remained closed.
The police elaborated arrangements to prevent any untoward incident. A total of 1,500 policemen, including teams from the CRPF, TSSP and the civil force.
