Ayodhya/New Delhi: Various parties and organisations staged protest on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. Muslim organisation observed yaum-e-syah or day of sorrow while Hindu organisations observed vijay divas or shaurya divas.
Shops of Muslims remain shut in Ayodhya, prayers were offered at masajid and supplications were made for reconstruction of the masjid. State president of Indian Union Muslim League Dr Najmul Hasan Ghani led a 1-day demonstration at Gandhi Park.
Dharna was also staged at Parliament Street in the national capital seeking punishment for Babri Masjid demolishers and demanding reconstruction of the masjid. The protestors took out peace march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar.
Organisations who took parts in the protest include CPI, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Popular Front of India, All India Majlis Mushavirat, Lok Raj Sangathan, Jan Saman Party, Welfare Party, Muslim Political Council of India, Women India Movement and others.
