Babri Masjid issue: Sunni Waqf Board, AIMPLB say ‘no’ to Ravi Shankar

Ayodhya: Hindus spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has intensified his efforts to resolve the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute. In this connection he had half an hour long meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday in Lucknow, ahead of his scheduled visit to Ayodhya on Thursday. He had planned to have discussion with the stakeholders on Thursday at Ayodhya . However Sunni Waqf Board rebuffed the mediation efforts and refused to meet on November 16.
All India Muslim Personal Law Board also supported Sunni Waqf Board’s stand and refused to talk. Muslim bodies told that Sri Sri had no legal standing on the Ayodhya matter and hence they had decided to reject his offer for a dialogue on the issue.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has intensified his mediation during few weeks. Despite the fact that his mediation attempts have drawn a string of reactions with many hailing his initiative and others expressing skepticism. Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri also slammed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar by saying that the later was not a seer hence had no right to interfere in the Ram temple issue. He told that it is not possible for Sri Sri to build Ram Mandir.
On the other hand Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Chief Wasim Rizvi’s efforts to built Ram Mandir in Ayodhya too received a jolt when All India Shia Personal Law Board clearly said that it is with All India Muslim Personal Law Board on the matter of Ayodhya issue.
