Ballabgarh lynching: Struggling with stress, Junaid’s father suffers ‘heart attack’

RANCHI: Jalaluddin, father of Ballabgarh lynching victim Junaid Khan was hospitalised after he suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday evening.

The condition of the 46-year-old Jalaluddin is said to be stable, according to Chhaya Malhotra, spokesperson of Metro Hospital at Noida Sector 12, where Jalaluddin was admitted.

“Jalaluddin was admitted to our hospital due to a heart attack. Doctors are attending to him as of now,” Chhaya said.

The hospital staff informed that Jalaluddin would be undergoing an operation soon, reported Hindustan Times.

“We have done angiography on the patient and doctors have noticed a blockage problem in his heart. The patient is responding at the moment and we are feeding him as well,” said the staff.

The estimated cost of his treatment is Rs. 1.90 Lakh for angioplasty and Rs. 60,000 for his hospitalization. However, until last night, no amount had been submitted by the family, reported Janta Ka Reporter.

On Tuesday, successful angioplasty was done, Jalaluddin’s other son confirmed the news.

Jalaluddin was under a lot of stress after the Additional Sessions judge in Faridabad granted bail to Chandra Prakash, one of the accused in Junaid lynching case, family members alleged.

“After Junaid was killed, our lives changed completely. Jalaluddin was under lot of stress and his condition deteriorated after the court released one of the accused and reduced his charges,” his wife Saira.

16-year-old Junaid Khan on June 22 was lynched and stabbed to death by a mob while his three brothers were injured onboard the Delhi-Mathura passenger train between Ballabgarh and Mathura station when they were returning home after Eid shopping.

The Hindu mob also allegedly passed slurs and repeatedly called them “anti- nationals” and “beef eaters”.
