Bangladesh Information Minister says Dhaka, Sholakia attacks aimed at toppling govt

Dhaka: Bangladesh Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said the recent attacks in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone and Sholakia Eidgah were aimed at toppling the Prime Minister Sheikh Haseena led-Bangladesh Government.

While exchanging views at a dialogue session at Press Institute of Bangladesh, Inu said the terrorist attacks were carried out as part of the mega plan made for toppling the government, Dailystar.net reported.

“Those who carried out the attacks are enemies of Islam, religion and the country,” he said adding that the government’s “main aim now is to uproot the militants”.

The Information Minister also urged the media to extend their support to the government to curb militancy in the nation.

Four people, including two policemen died in the attack near Sholakia field of Kishoreganj town where hundreds of thousands had gathered for Eid congregation on Friday morning.
