Bareilly: Actress Priyanka counted in UP’s civic body elections

Bareilly: The Bollywood Actress who is busy doing her international shows after debuting in Hollywood with ABC’s hit American show Quantico is still counted as a voter In UP’s Bareilly.

The Actress is currently in New York for the shooting of a TV show and yet her name is still registered in UP’s upcoming civic body elections voter list even though the Actress relocated to Mumbai 17 years ago.

Speaking on it Bareilly’s Assistant district election officer Abhijit Mukherji in his statement said that they conduct a survey before finalizing the voter’s list in order to avoid duplication of Voters.

He said, “It was a mistake on the part of the block-level officer concerned, who prepared the fresh electoral roll for this election. We will take action against those responsible for this error.

Saurabh Saxena who is this contesting this year for Bareilly Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Councilor’s post from Ward 56 said they came across Priyanka’s name on the list while they were going through the electoral rolls.

Saurabh’s Brother Ranjan Saxena said, “She was our neighbour here before shifting to Mumbai in 2000. Seeing her name in the voters’ list was such a pleasant surprise. Since her family and she shifted to Mumbai, they have frequently visited Bareilly. However, the last time she herself visited was around four years ago.”

Saurabh said, “Each voter is important for me. To get support, I am meeting all of them in my ward and am also trying to approach those who are out of town through social media. As Chopra is one of my prospective voters, I will definitely approach her through Twitter and request her to come and cast her vote. It is not only our constitutional right but also a duty to cast our vote.
