Batla House encounter: Rashtra Ulama Council to gherao Arvind Kejriwal’s residence

Azamgarh: Batla House Encounter is a blot on Azamgarh’s face which has tarnished the image of the entire district. Government and district administration should have conducted an unbiased probe, said Maulana Amir Rashadi addressing a meeting.

On 19 September 2008, Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid were killed. Encounter specialist and Delhi Police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who led the police action was also killed during the incident. Political parties, civil society groups, activists, especially teachers and students of the Jamia Millia Islamia University, several political organizations like the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) demanded a judicial inquiry into the encounter.

From day one Rashtra Ulama Council believed the encounter to be fake. Party president Maulana Amir Rashadi said we will not rest until a fair investigation of fake encounter is done. On the occasion of 10th anniversary of the encounter, Maulana said we will stage a demonstration demanding probe into the encounter by besieging chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on September 19.
