Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao on Friday urged Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to convene a meeting of all political parties on his government’s decision to slash BC reservations from 34 percent to 23 percent in the upcoming Panchayat Raj elections and convince all party leaders about the same.
VH also asked the Chief Minister to postpone the gram panchayat elections if the State government felt that the Supreme Court’s orders were hurdles in the issue. Hanumantha Rao wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on the issue. In his letter, VH told KCR that it was the Congress-led UPA government that issued orders providing 34 percent reservations to the BCs. He also brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that in the intensive household survey conducted by his government, it was found that the State had a total 54 percent BC population.
