Beating Film Industry, working woman pays Rs 10 crores Income Tax!

Hyderabad: A city woman working with an IT company emerges out as one of the highest Tax payer breaking the trend of actors, actress, Businessmen paying huge hefty amounts of taxes as their IT returns.

According to the Income Tax department, this city woman a management professional has paid around Rs 10 crore as income tax for the year 2017-18, Telangana Today reported.

“A woman working in the Information Technology sector in the city drew a salary of nearly Rs 30 crores during 2018 under the salaried employees category. Approximately 30 percent of that income was taxed,” said Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TS and AP) S P Choudhury.

However, the Principal Chief Commissioner refused to reveal the details of the working lady from the city who drew the attention of the IT department.

“This kind of salary is possible only for the expats coming here for a specific period. On the other hand, the sum could have been arrived by adding up all the perks and incentives, which are linked to the performance of the company. She might have had stock options, which is seen as salary by the Income-Tax department,” said an industry expert and a managing director of an IT company in the city.
